If you disagree w/someone’s public stance, you either contact personally, quietly unfollow, or (civilized) stay friends & accept that there are differences of opinion. But to switch to publicly targeting or support smear campaigns (when there are others to target) is abhorent.

When followers get upset, they go away, and you get new followers. More generally, I despise authors who follow their audience, guided by “what has worked”.

Dear friends, Please have some mercy. I get >200 yearly requests for book blurbs, & >500 for retweets from friends. I must say no sorry to all to keep the integrity of my feed & prevent it from turning into some marketing platform. I apologize for the inconvenience.

If you get data for a specific research topic, odds you will find something in it unrelated to what you were looking for. And if you don’t change your research topic then, you’re not a scholar but just a semi-glorified book-entry clerc, something now called an “academic”.

Can confirm it is not apocryphal. It was the U.S. edition printed there that was censured. Globalization means censorship in YOUR OWN country by foreign suppliers.

Yet, I wrote in FbR, most pple feel shame. Be loyal to persons, not ideas. Asymmetry of BS detector: Friends, there have been many situations where I thought someone was solid, then realized I was mistaken as he turned out to be a bullshitter (e.g. NateS,PT,SP…) Can’t find reverse mistake: pple I thought were bullshitters but turned out to be solid.
